5-Amino-1MQ 50mg (25 Tablets)
Product Description
5-Amino-1MQ 50 mg Tablets
5-Amino-1MQ is a small-molecule, methylquinolinium-based research compound used to study nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT). NNMT is a cytosolic methyltransferase that transfers a methyl group from S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM) to nicotinamide, forming 1-methylnicotinamide. Because this reaction sits at the intersection of nicotinamide handling, methyl-donor metabolism, and the NAD+ salvage network, NNMT is a useful molecular target in cellular-metabolism research.
5-Amino-1MQ has been characterized in the literature as a membrane-permeable small-molecule inhibitor of NNMT. In differentiated 3T3-L1 adipocyte experiments, investigators reported reduced intracellular 1-methylnicotinamide after exposure to 5-amino-1MQ, with concentration-dependent changes in intracellular NAD+ and SAM also measured in that cell system. These observations make the compound relevant to laboratory work examining NNMT activity, nicotinamide flux, NAD+ biosynthesis regulation, methylation-pathway balance, and adipocyte biology.
The cited findings are experimental, preclinical research observations. They do not establish clinical activity, safety, efficacy, or suitability for any human or veterinary use. Results can vary with the model, concentration, exposure conditions, analytical method, and other experimental variables.
Research Focus
Common laboratory questions include how modulation of NNMT affects substrate and product pools, the relationship between nicotinamide availability and NAD+-associated pathways, and the signaling or differentiation state of adipocyte models. Experimental design should distinguish direct target engagement from downstream cellular responses and include appropriate vehicle, concentration, and time-course controls.
